Abstract

To report the first clinical application of an integrated workflow combining artificial intelligence (AI) with mixed reality-based dynamic navigation (MR-DN) for guided dental implant placement in the anterior maxilla. The proposed protocol integrates AI and MR-DN and comprises the following steps: (1) acquisition of three-dimensional (3D) datasets through intraoral scanning (IOS) and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT); (2) AI-driven implant planning using dedicated software (Virtual Patient Creator®, Relu, Leuven, Belgium); (3) guided implant placement using a MR-DN system (ANNA®, Mars Dental AI, Haifa, Israel); and (4) post-operative accuracy assessment. The clinical integration of AI and MR-DN allowed accurate and time-efficient guided implant placement in the anterior maxilla. This proof-of-concept study describes the first clinical application of an integrated AI and MR-DN approach for guided implant placement in the anterior maxilla. Further clinical investigations involving larger patient cohorts are warranted to validate these promising preliminary results. The integration of AI with MR-DN may represent a paradigm shift in guided implant surgery, offering an accurate, time-efficient, user-friendly, and potentially cost-effective alternative to conventional static computer-assisted implant surgery (s-CAIS) and traditional dynamic navigation (DN) systems.
